PM Handwrites Condolence Letter to Former Chinese President's Family

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote a letter of condolence to the family of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and recalled the history of his visit to Cambodia, which has built up Cambodia-China relations to what it is today.

In the condolence letter, dated 5 December 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his sadness after receiving the news of the death of Jiang Zemin.

He stated that the death of the former Chinese president was a great loss, and he acknowledged that the Chinese statesman had devoted his entire life to improving the lives of the Chinese people and the prosperity of China.

"His Excellency Jiang Zemin was also a good friend of Cambodia," he wrote. "His Excellency's official visit to Cambodia in 2000 gave great importance to the promotion of Cambodia-China relations and cooperation.”

Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, who was in office from 1993 to 2003, died on 30 November 2022, at the age of 96 according to Xinhua news, who reported that Jiang died of leukemia and multiple sclerosis.
